Napleton & Partners made a recovery of 1.2 million on behalf of the estate of a 56-year-old man that was hit and killed while turning left out of a parking lot onto a street in Joliet, Illinois. The defendant in the case argued that it had the right-of-way and that the incident was the fault of the decedent, but a forensic evaluation of the vehicle, its data system, videos obtained from the local store operators, as well as the defendant driver’s cell phone showed that the defendant was speeding and likely distracted in the moments before impact, allowing the estate to make the recovery that it did. Brion W. Doherty and Robert J. Napleton represented the widow.
