$3.5 Million for Wrongful Death of a Local 150 Operator

The wife and four children of a 52-year-old Local 150 operator have settled their lawsuit against a Chicagoland Hospital regarding medical negligence that took place in Cook County and resulted in his tragic death. On November 08, 2019, the patient presented to the hospital following a vehicle collision. He was admitted for observation to the Clinical Decision Making Unit (CDU). On the morning of November 10, 2019, he was discharged despite needing four (4) Liters of supplemental oxygen and rating his pain at 10/10. Following his discharge from the hospital he was found unresponsive by his wife at 2:00 a.m. on November 11, 2019. He suffered respiratory arrest and then cardiac arrest and died on November 16, 2019. The family (wife and three adult children and 1 minor child) sought to recover $155,408 in medical and funeral expenses plus $1,500,000 in lost earnings. $3,500,000.00 was paid by the self-insured hospital.
